Golf doesn’t get much better than at Royal Westmoreland’s world-class 18-hole championship golf course – a 7,045 yard par 72 course of unrivalled beauty, with views of the shimmering ocean from every hole, and a layout to test every club in your bag.
US Masters Champion Ian Woosnam – a homeowner at Royal Westmoreland, Barbados – says the par 3s are some of the best he’s played anywhere in the world. Bunkers abound, but considerable use has been made of the natural environment, with the 5th and 6th holes using an old coralstone quarry, and the 12th par 3 challenging the lowest of handicaps with its tight green bordering a ravine. Each hole has several tees to accommodate every level of play.
At the heart of the golf course stands the elegant, colonial-style Clubhouse with sweeping views over the emerald fairways to the deep blue Caribbean Sea. This is home to the Clubhouse Restaurant and golf pro shop with an extensive range of golf equipment, clothing and merchandise.
The ‘Halfway House’ by the ninth green is open daily from 6:30am to 4:30pm and serves a variety of light snacks and thirst quenching drinks. Water stations serving ice-cold water are also located throughout the golf course.
Royal Westmoreland is fifteen minutes East of the villa and is one of the best courses on Barbados.
