Barbados has plenty of beautiful white sand beaches. The best beaches can be found along the Caribbean (southwestern) coast. Here you can find long stretches of white sand and calm waters. However this is also the area where most of the beach resorts are located.

All beaches are ‘public’ although sometimes you have to cross the property of the hotels. A large part of the north, southeast, and east coasts have steep limestone cliffs, but in between those small private sandy coves with palmtrees can be found. Be careful with swimming though, currents and undertow can be strong on the east side of the island.

Quiet sand beaches can also be found on the northwestern coast, like e.g. Horseshoe Bay, Cluff’s Bay or Archers’s Bay, these are only accessible by secondary paved/unpaved roads. Crane Bay on the southeast is probably one of the most beautiful beaches on the island, but the waves can be quite rough at times.

Camden Nook villa is located on Reeds Bay, West coast. These seas are generally the calmest, but good, safe and where quiet swimming is available in the many tranquil bays along the South West and the South that touch the Caribbean Sea. If you like calm waters with a soft sandy bottom, then the West Coast is probably the best of these conditions.

West Coast Beaches

  • Reeds Bay/Mirimar Beach/Merlin Bay

Here stands the villa. Beautiful idilic stretch of beach. Very quiet and shred almost exclusively by Barbados residents and thows staying on the bay. The water is warm and clear and you can enjoy a rum and coke or a cold beer at the John Moore Bar (a very friendly local hideaway on the beach). See pictures from the villa gallery

  • Mullins Bay

lies just five minutes north of the villa. It is one of the most popular beaches on the West coast of Barbados. This is due to its relaxed vibe and great facilities; Restaurant, Parking, Sun Loungers, Jet Ski rental , stalls and much more. The water is very placid and very safe.

  • Gibbs Beach

Is the next bay North of the villa and one of the most famous in Barbados. It is very quiet with beautiful clear water.

  • Sandy Lane Bay

Fifteen minutes south of the villa. This beach is home to Barbados most opulent hotel ‘Sandy Lane’ .This is a long, wide expanse of beach which is in pristine condition and well-maintained. There is a public access to this beach at the south end of the hotel. The beach is nicely sheltered with little wave movement most of the year and no undertow.
